July

Hello everyone.  I just wanted to give a quick update.  We were out of town this past week or so.  We all went to North Carolina to the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games.  These are Scottish games and a festival. It was wonderful and Arran I think slept through the entire thing.  He slept most of the day and was up most of the night. So we are recovering from our vacation.  He is happy to be home and his schedule is back on track.  He has recovered wonderfully from his surgery.  We haven't had a medical professional yet tell us that but we haven't seen any signs that there has been a problem.  Tomorrow he goes in to have his weight checked again. Hopefully he will have grown some since the last time he was in.  Thursday of this week he gets these casts off and he gets a new set on.  Hopefully his feet will grow enough that he can wear shoes soon.  All is well.

Happy fourth of July!  Arran is celebrating his first fourth of July in style.  The other night he went to the Long Meadow fireworks and slept through the entire thing.  Yesterday Arran had a mild surgery.  He had both Achilles tendons snipped.  This procedure was done to help correct his club feet.  The operation was done under local anesthesia and Brad and I were both there holding his hands.  He has a little stitch in each heel.  They put casts back on his legs and they will stay on for 3 weeks.  Then he will go into another pair of lighter weight casts for a week.  This will continue until his feet are big enough to fit into the special shoes. He is doing fine after the operation.  We gave him a little baby tylenol last night and that was all he needed.  Today was awake and feeling good.  Tomorrow he goes for a weight check and we'll get to see if he's growing any.  We're hoping for the best.
